The Composers Centre was established in 2014 with the intention of treating music production and music education with a new approach: To bring to the music, screen and theatre sectors a new way of imagining, learning and creating, while exploiting the principles of musical dramaturgy.
It is geared towards student musicians, composers, filmmakers and theatre makers who seek to be informed about music, particularly in the context of drama.
Directed by the composer Dr. Edward Primrose, the Composers Centre is concerned with music production and sound design, specifically in the context of drama (screen and stage), and music formation in which the work of the composer takes a pivotal role. The Centre undertakes research into the nexus of music and drama, otherwise referred to as musical dramaturgy. It provides classes and private tuition in various composition and drama related areas, from basic theory to advanced composition and dramaturgical studies.
